The Assassination Attempt On Trump And What It Means for U.S. Democracy

This awful act may be one of those moments in history that is the final break towards a new paradigm in U.S and world history

In the early evening tonight on July 12, 2024, at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, former President Donald Trump was the victim of an assassination attempt. While at a podium, it appears his right ear was nicked by a gunshot. Trump soon takes cover behind the podium and is swarmed by Secret Service agents. Multiple gunshots continue to be fired over a period of several seconds. It is being reported that the assailant (who was on a nearby roof) and someone else are dead.

At some point Trump is lifted and carried off the stage by Secret Service agents. But before leaving, he stops, turns to the crowd, his face with blood streaks and yells “fight” multiple times. It’s been reported that he was not seriously injured, and we should all hope he is ok.

I’m not going to list the reasons why we all should hope for the best. If you wish violence upon another human, that is on you. I wish no ill will on Trump even if our politics, personalities, values and beliefs don’t align. That’s what I love about the United States, as I’m a true believer in being able to respectfully…
